CRM Data Migration

Salesforce
Executive summary.
Hexagon initiated a multi phase project to rationalise their CRM applications into one shared CRM. We were engaged mid initial phase to manage and deliver the Data Migration workstream. The initial phase was delivered when required for testing and cut-over, with carefully co-ordinated prioritisation of the ETL deliverables. Subsequent phases were also delivered with detailed planning, issue prioritisation and appropriate Data Migration Cycles.

Key delivery factors.
For the initial phase, the DM Scope and Strategy were complex and initially fast-moving to keep aligned with the evolving target system. DM Cycles were coordinated with testing and training requirements, and cutover was completed as planned. Many challenges were managed during this initial phase, working closely with business SMEs, Programme Management Team and the Systems Integrator (SI).
Data quality issues were identified and managed with business SMEs to aid prioritisation and decision making around issue resolution.
The DM scope covered users, account management, contact management, lead management, opportunities and service.
Utilising a Core DM Team made up of a combination of binary10 consultants, Business SMEs and the SI, we successfully completed the data migration to agreed standards and timescales using the binary10 methodology and toolset.
The biggest problem that we had was the fact that our sales teams were unwilling to have more than four days of downtime, which gave us a very tight window. The binary10 team were great because not only did they have as many trial runs as possible to get the timings for all of that work to make sure that we could fit it in in the four days, but they also came up with a very innovative approach of using Delta loads to minimize the amount of time that our users were offline.
