Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
Executive summary.
OCU Group engaged with binary10 to resolve a key business requirement which had arisen following their acquisition of a significant number of companies within the utility services market. All key data (including current & historic financials, customers & suppliers, etc.) for a wide range of companies, each with differing source systems, needed to be migrated into their core system. The team at binary10 worked closely with OCU Group to plan a strategic delivery over 12 months, ensuring that all 14 companies were migrated successfully in a clean and precise phased approach. Each of the 5 sub-phases had to be carefully planned and executed to ensure minimal impact on BAU activities, whilst progressing at pace and remaining within agreed timescales.

We engaged binary10 to lead multiple data migration projects to integrate acquired businesses onto D365 and were very pleased with their professional approach. They were flexible and reliable throughout, with strong project management that kept the work well organised and on track. The team demonstrated a solid understanding of data migration activities, with a clear focus on data quality and minimising disruption to our business. We found the team professional and committed to delivering a high-quality outcome, and we would be happy to work with them again.

Key delivery factors.
Detailed strategic planning for each of the 5 phases across the programme. Factoring in the varied source systems involved, desired timeframes and ensuring a carefully agreed scope that helped to minimise BAU and client staff impact.
Management of over 12 migration cycles across the 5 phases to cover the analysis of source data, identification of quality issues and testing. During each of these phases, we also managed the reconciliation testing, UAT and defect management to ensure any items identified were addressed and resolved for sign-off and entry/exit criteria gateways.
We planned and managed the cutover, go-live and hypercare for each phase to ensure that all of them ran on time and achieved the targeted go-live as expected. We worked closely with the client staff to ensure full coverage was in place for hypercare periods post go-live as well.
During the programme of migration work, the experts at binary10 built and maintained excellent working relationships with the OCU staff. Client SME's for all key business areas were engaged and worked collaboratively. Senior management and key stakeholders also remained updated and clear on progress.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at OCU over the course of the project. They were a great team of people who fully engaged with the data migration work binary10 were undertaking. Over the course of a 12 month period, our team worked closely with OCU’s technology & finance teams as well as business SME’s to successfully migrate a significant number of acquisitions into their business system.
I feel that the strong working relationship we built was a key factor in the successful delivery across all 5 phases.
